My daughter, Bettina D. received medical treatment abroad between 01.03.2012 and 18.12.2012. We had a control examination on 07.02.2013. I asked several oncologists in Hungary to prescribe a wig for my daughter. However, I received negative answers from everywhere saying that wigs can only be prescribed by the physician who carried out the treatment. Regarding the fact that both Bettina’s treatment and control examination were performed abroad, the wig can be prescribed only abroad too. When I turned to the OEP for information, they said that if I found a physician to prescribe the wig, then they would bear its cost. The foreign medical treatment was financed by the OEP, but I do not think they would be willing to pay our expenses to travel abroad in order to prescribe a simple wig. Therefore, I would like to ask you to help find a solution for this problem. Upon your request, please, find attached Bettina’s latest discharge report.
