Two multifunctional operating tables and a state-of-the art anaesthesia machine were handed over to the Surgical and Traumatological Department of Heim Pál Children’s Hospital. Due to the investment and development, the hospital was able to replace 30-year-old equipment. The two multifunctional operating tables fully satisfy the requirements of the 21st century and can be used for all types of surgery. The anaesthesia machine is the most up-to-date equipment currently available and is equally suitable for new-borns, children and young adults.
At the press conference, Dr Anikó Nagy, Director General of the hospital, said the Foundation had been their main sponsor for the past 10 years and the institute had received everything they had asked for.
As István Balogh, President of the Children Cancer Foundation told representative of the press at the conference, the Foundation had donated a total of 3.6 billion HUF, primarily to hospitals, over a period of 18 years. “We do not manufacture buttons. We do not make business. We ask and beg, with most of our money coming from 1% personal income tax offerings. Originally, we had wanted to build a paediatric hospital with our savings; the law changed, however, and now we are handing out that money, too. This time, we have purchased two state-of-the-art multifunctional operating tables and an anaesthesia machine, which can be used for the treatment of new-borns as well.”
This was not the first time that the Foundation had made a donation to Heim Pál Paediatric Hospital.
“Last year, we donated 96 million HUF to Heim Pál Paediatric Hospital so that a new oncological ward can be established. Over the years of our operation, our contributions have amounted to a total of 410 million HUF”, the President said.
István Balogh emphasised they are continuing their mission as 300-320 new patients are hospitalised each year and the Foundation would like to make state-of-the-art therapy available for all of them.
After the press conference, the children also received presents: 500 Santa Claus bags containing one bottle of the vitamin formula Flavin7 were handed out to the young patients.
