The Department of Paediatric Surgery, Burns and Traumatology of Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County Hospital and University Educational Hospital received a donation worth HUF 50 million.

As a donation offered by the Children Cancer Foundation Priority Non-Profit Organisation, the hospital received a modern operating table, which is the only such medical device in Hungary. The accessories of the operating table allow different operations to be performed on any body part of children of any age in safe and modern conditions. The positions of the table may be controlled digitally with the help of a remote control, said the head of the institute to MTI.

The department is one of the largest units of the country providing paediatric surgery with the widest range of medical services. Together with the Onco-Hematology Department of Velkey László Paediatric Health Centre, in addition to providing medical services for people with cancer living in the region, the hospital provides treatment for people from other parts of the country waiting for bone marrow transplantation as well, and performs all kinds of infant and paediatric surgery. In the future, the time-consuming “positioning” of patients before surgery will be unnecessary.
