Press room/Rectifications

In the judgement pronounced on 12 March 2014 Budapest-Capital Regional Court obliged the Blikk daily and the online editorial staff to make rectifications in the following items

On the website blikk.hu:

• In their article of 20 December 2013 “Balogh: Nem emlékszem, mennyiért vettem a házam” (‘Balogh: I cannot remember how much I paid for my house’) and in their article of 21 December 2013 “Várakozni tilos, kivéve Baloghéknak” (‘No parking, except for the Baloghs’) they falsely claimed that the Index had proved that István Balogh, the President of the Children Cancer Foundation, had used the child ambulance for his private purposes.

• In their article of 22 December 2013 ”Amerikai alapítványt is vezet Balogh” (‘Balogh also controls an American foundation’) they claimed without any grounds that the president of the foundation would have used the child ambulance for private purposes.

In reality, the video record of the Index supported the assumption that the child ambulance had been used not only for ambulance service but also for the purpose of making arrangements in the matters of the Foundation and occasionally the driver of the ambulance happened to carry István Balogh, the President of the Foundation, from his home to his workplace in the office of the foundation.

• In their article of 18 December 2013 ”Magánment?vel furikázik az alapítvány elnöke” (‘President of the Foundation drives about in private ambulance’) they claimed without any grounds that in 2012 the Children Cancer Foundation spent a monthly average amount of 500,000 Forints on petrol.

• In their article of 20 December 2013 “Balogh: Nem emlékszem, mennyiért vettem a házam” (‘Balogh: I cannot remember how much I paid for my house’) they falsely claimed that in 2008 the prosecution launched investigation because the foundation would have appropriated more money for general expenses than for ill children.

In reality, in 2008 the prosecution inspected the legal compliance of the activity of the Children Cancer Foundation and the aim of the inspection was to establish whether the foundation had performed the promotion of public interest in compliance with laws.
