The request of Attila’s mother

Dear Children Cancer Foundation,

We need your help!

Our son was diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia in the spring of 2008 (when he was only 3 and a half years old). Since that time, he has undergone chemotherapy, radiation therapy and he even finished maintenance treatment in 2010.
The regular nutrition supplements we continuously received from your Foundation were rather helpful in the process of recovery!
Thank you very much for that!!!!!
Our son is already a second grade student, and has very good results despite the number of hours missed due to his disease (regular upper respiratory tract infections).

In the summer of 2010, after so many jettisoning, we have taken out a tremendous loan amount, and managed to move out from a rented flat in Zugló and buy (with favourable conditions) in a detached house in Budafok that has got really the fresh air.
We performed complete reconstruction, as the house was built in 1936 and has been uninhabited for 10 years.
Therefore, we took out a loan again in order to provide the most comfortable environment possible for our children.

Water insulation of the house has been performed, the doors and windows  have been changed, and the cover of the building has been completely changed.
Nevertheless, due to the sloping nature of the plot and the limestone base of the house, we continuously combating the discomfort induced by the appearance of must and mould, the air is often damp, which we did not know about even when the technical inspection was made.

Last year, our son suffered from middle ear infection or bronchitis almost every third month, which we thought was contributed to his weak immune system.

Now, in addition to the existing health problems, difficulties in breathing and continuous asthmatic coughing also appeared, and with regard to our younger child as well (which can only be experienced inside the house).

Therefore, we had to take the necessary steps, and asked other parents and medical doctors’ opinion to solve the problem.
They recommended the electric device for removing moisture (trotec TTK 50), which is regarded as a miraculous machine, and is able to filter the air and help the walls dry, and in this way help to prevent the reoccurrence of mould, ensuring the optimal climate, and stops water dropping from the windows.

After a long process of searching for the device, we found a company from Kecskemét, which offered the respective equipment for sale at a discount price (for HUF 59,000 + delivery cost instead of the original price of HUF 78,000).

Although we have seen difficult times throughout our son’s disease (father lost his job, tragedies in the family, building construction), we always thought that there were people who needed your support much more we did, and we did not request help from your Foundation!!!

However, now that we are expecting our third child, and regarding that I am a teacher and my husband has suddenly lost his job as a cook (though he managed to find another one), we cannot place any further burden on the family budget and turn to anyone else for help!

As the situation is getting worse, we ordered the above device (it has delivered and put into operation today), hoping that you would approve our request. The company recommended that the device should be used together with an air ionisator equipped with a UV lamp in Attila’s room. The discount price for the inonisator is HUF 38,000, which we could not buy unfortunately, although we need it very much.
We know that the amount we request is rather significant, but we hope that with this help all of our problems cease to exist, and our family can let out a deep breath!!!!

Thank you very much for your help in advance.
Waiting for your reply, sincerely yours,

Mrs Attila V.
